After Hour Animals unleash their new single “Lose My Head” and debut their simple, yet eye-catching music video to go along with it. The radio-ready track combines the best of both worlds – the clean vocals and unforgettable melodies of pop and the bold, impactful heaviness of metal and screaming vocals. The track is designed to make you jump and to make you think. Underneath the surface lies a lyrical inspiration of heartache, emotional armor, and a desire to connect:

After Hour Animals crawled and climbed the ladder of their local metal scene starting with Milwaukee’s infamous Rave and landing them at the Vans Warped Tour. Honing their craft in front of a live audience equipped The Animals to take the next step in their career – the worldwide rock arena. This six piece band hailing from the urban streets of downtown Milwaukee is sure to get you talking about their dueling clean and screaming vocals and infectious melodies. If you think there is nothing new to be done in Rock and Metal, think again. A mixture of catchy melodies, passionate screams, spoken word, and driving riffs sets  them apart from their predecessors.  Let your animalistic instincts take the driver’s seat and join the pack. Their latest single “Lose My Head” will have you singing along after just one listen.

Tell us about the genesis of your project.  How did you get to where you are now?

We were all in different projects throughout the years and all got to know each other from going to parties and shows.  We’ve been making sure to consistently put out single after single, and making each one hopefully better than the last.  I think that doing that through the pandemic has helped us and shown our dedication.

What is the favorite song you wrote and why?

My favorites are always the ones not released yet, but of the ones we have out I’d probably say “All It Takes”.

Who are your all time musical icons?

That’s a tough one.  Corey Taylor, Brandon Boyd, John Mayer, and Will Swan.  That’s just off the top of my head though.

What are some things to do to keep your inspiration alive?

Constantly growing, and becoming a better version of myself.  It sounds corny, but I try to write about experiences that teach me lessons.

Who are you binge listening to these days?

Always Slipknot.  Also Brakence, Spiritbox, Token, Sleep Token, Dance Gavin Dance, Bring Me The Horizon, Pale Waves… there’s a lot of great music.

Do you think this release represents you the most out of your whole catalogue?

I think it’s the beginning of a new direction.  I can’t say it represents us the most, but it’s a good introduction.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about.

I wrote the song and brought it to the rest of the guys and it was pretty good to go.  Sometimes there are revisions and other times there are a lot of revisions, but this one was ready to go.  Lyrically it touches on trying to balance what you want with making time in relationships, whether they be romantic or whatever.  Sometimes it gets hard and you cave in; which kinda ruins both.

What are some major milestones you’d like to accomplish in your career?

I mean we want what everyone in music wants, to be rockstars.  Honestly though it’s just great to be making a living doing what we love, and touring the world.  I’d love to go to Japan and play.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully doing music as a full time gig, happy as a clam doin’ what I love.

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

I take a lot of inspiration from the grunge & punk genres.  I really love the style and energy.

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

I’d say so far I’m most proud of anytime we’ve been able to sell out a venue.  It feels great to know how important your music is to people.

What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist nowadays?

I think having great music is step one, but it’s also about being honest.  It may not seem like it, but I feel like people really like honesty and things they can relate to.  You also just gotta put yourself out there, and not be afraid to be different.

What would you change in the music and entertainment industry especially after this past year?

A lot of music becoming popular lately is super gimmicky.  I’m not hating on it, there’s definitely a place for it, and just because it’s a gimmick doesn’t mean it’s a bad song.  That being said though, it’s annoying when songs only get hugely successful if they create a trend.
