Houston-native Ivan Morin, or better known by his alias, Alcoda, is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and producer with a passion for all things music. And with an extensive history, Ivan has been submerged in music for most of his life, having first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. With a vast variety of profound influences ranging from Chino Moreno to Lauryn Hill, it has become difficult to place a specific label over Alcoda’s unique sound which blends R&B, post-rock, and electronic pop.

In the wake of leaving behind his previous band, Ivan found it necessary to rebrand under a name with the new material he was writing in 2014. As of 2020, Alcoda has released 3 full-length albums, as well as a handful of eps, mixtapes, and collaborations.

Ivan will release his 4th full-length album entitled Reflections And The Heart on October 29th, which will be more intimate and experimental than his previous releases. Additionally, as local venues start to safely open, Alcoda will begin to perform live sets throughout the city of Houston for the remainder of 2021.

“The album has a recurring theme of self-care, self-love, rehabilitation, and reflection, and this last song is about falling in love but learning to love yourself before trying to share your feelings with someone else. I think it is so important for people to learn that self-care is critical and there’s nothing wrong with putting yourself first.”

“Reflections and the Heart” is the perfect balance of 808s, guitar, synths, and emotional vocals that pull you into the project and make you feel the emotions that Alcoda is showing in his songs. I am a different person from who I was on day 1 of writing this record, it really changed everything for me.” Says Alcoda
