Boston-based songwriter Avery Lynch has shared her sophomore EP When It Ends, available now on all DSPs worldwide via AWAL. The EP is highlighted by singles “Sh*t People” and “Round & Round,” along with its title track featuring pop powerhouse JORDY.
“When It Ends is, in short, those three words,” says Lynch. “It’s those moments in life where you need to let go, say goodbye, and move on. Whether it’s recognizing that you’re stuck in a cycle of toxicity and complacency (‘Round & Round’) or that you’re a placeholder for someone else (‘Closest to That’). It’s not an EP born out of a specific experience, it’s born out of a place of collective empathy that I hold for everyone. We aren’t that different, we’ve all been there, sometimes it just takes a song or stranger to empower you to end it, to change it. “
“When Avery reached out to me to be the feature on ‘When It Ends,’ it was an immediate yes,” JORDY goes on to say about the EP’s title track. “I have been a fan of Avery for the way she effortlessly voices her emotions and experiences; her lyrics are always perfect, and she has the voice of an angel. The song itself was also one that struck a chord with me – the feeling of knowing you need to end something when it’s the last thing you want to do is all too familiar, so I knew I needed to cut the second verse.”
