Emotional, deep, and utterly relatable, Breakdown is the latest single by Ships Have Sailed, a band that has grown and refined its sound to produce music with an undeniable impact. This new release reveals their exceptional ability to evoke emotion through their art.

Co-written with Tiffany Kintzer, “‘Breakdown’ is an exploration of our lowest moments, the times we’re broken, exhausted, completely tapped out, and we just need a lifeline” shares Will Carpenter, vocalist, guitarist, and band frontman, who partners with drummer Art Andranikyan to bring the band’s vision to life.

“‘Breakdown’ was born from a conversation exploring moments we each felt like we’d reached rock bottom, and how hard it can be to admit that we just need someone to hold us upright…but how important that can be as part of the process of finding a way through the darkness.”

— Will Carpenter.

True to the indie rock ethos, Breakdown was largely produced by Carpenter himself, who masterfully crafts a sound that has become the unmistakable hallmark of Ships Have Sailed. The song resonates with a poignant sense of pain and hopelessness, reflecting key moments from the artist’s life.

Ships Have Sailed has previously delivered quality tracks from Carpenter’s home studio, with numerous singles and EPs that have built the band’s reputation in the indie scene and taken them on tours across the U.S. and internationally.

Breakdown launches amid a busy year for the band, coming on the heels of singles like Find My Way, Walking Into Walls, and Reflections. Each song adds a new dimension to a discography that’s already making waves in the indie rock world.
