Diamante Eléctrico is a Latin Grammy-winning Colombian alternative band whose sound continually vacillates between blues – rock, pop, indie rock, R&B and soul. Their sound has been recognized internationally, as well as artists from the Foo Fighters to the Rolling Stones thanks to their intense performance style and their media – savvy videos.

Their songs are mostly brief,  ranging from 3 to 4 minutes, wrapped in hooks, fuzzed-out production, tight vocal harmonies, and a paced but furious energy, as evidenced on 2014´s B, which one that year´s Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album and was selected by Colombia´s Rolling Stone as the most important rock album of the year. By contrast, 2018’s Buitres, released after years of road and studio work, was celebrated with chart success and Latin Grammy nominations.

“We started from nothing! All of us were doing different things musically but once we came together and started playing music together just for the hell of it, we instantly knew we were supposed to be Diamante Electrico!”

“Things started to happen very quickly and people loved the music so we just thought we needed to bring more value to our songs and think about our music in a different way. We started polishing our sound and discovering new sides of ourselves. Ultimately, we wanted a deeper connection with our fans and give them songs they could resonate with and dedicate to each other. That’s when everything changed!”

Led by Juan Galeano and Daniel Álvarez, Diamante Eléctrico is approaching 10 years on the music scene as a band.  Together, they have brought their infectious live show to some of the most important festivals in the world such as Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Vive Latino, SWSX, Rock Al Parque and Eurockenness

They played with the Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones and The Raconteurs. They have collaborated with greats such as Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, Enrique Bunbury, Kase O and Alison Mosshart from The Kills.

One of their most exciting accomplishments was being featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series

“When we got the chance to perform at Tiny Desk we were almost in shock because as foreigners, we are all well aware of the fact that the Tiny Desk Series are a world renowned accomplishment for a band!”

“So we figured we had to make an impact and the fact that we’re from Colombia is already an unique element but we wanted to be extremely original even beyond that! We didn’t just want to play another rock n roll show. I mean. It’s Tiny Desk! A million other amazing bands have done that so we gotta give it a twist!”

“We deconstructed our songs and rebuilt them from the core with our Home in mind: Bogota! We rearranged them and introduced horns and Guacharaca which is the staple of Cumbia and thought it would be very meaningful to channel some of the political and social turmoil that Colombia had been going through. That’s what made it special. We had something to say and we said it in our own unique and traditional way!”
