Originally from Virginia, living in Nashville, Aleeda Blu, an American, pop duo consisting of identical twin sisters Megan and Erin O’Donnell embrace pop tradition with modern-day melodies. Megan carries the duo adding beautiful harmonies to the melody sung by Erin. Aleeda Blu’s name comes from a neat and personal place. Aleeda is the name of the sister’s mother. The name Blu is for both sisters having blue eyes.
Since the launch of their music career, they have performed at many iconic venues including The Listening Room Cafe in Pigeon Forge, TN, and Capital One Arena in Washington DC. Their debut EP “Rewritten” will begin to reveal the next chapter in Aleeda Blu’s story.
How did you know you wanted to be a duo?
We grew up singing together in church and always loved performing together. We were both blessed with the gift of song and wanted to be able to work alongside one another. Our sibling harmonies are our favorite part of being a duo. Coming up with new harmonies is a lot of fun.
Did you grow up listening to the same music or do you have different backgrounds?
We grew up listening to the same music. We both were inspired by similar artists and have been able to use our interests and similar background and incorporate that into our musical style.
How did your mentor help you develop your sound and act?
Our mentor helped us to find our sound and really dial in what kind of artists we want to be. We are thankful for her guidance and interest in our music and craft within our career.
What is the ‘Rewritten’ EP all about?
The rewritten EP is about new beginnings. Our EP tells a story of where we came from in our career when we first moved to Nashville to where we are now in our career. We were both inspired to write about our journeys in Nashville. We are grateful we both have different experiences that have led to an amazing journey.
What prompted you to write it? Any particular event?
What prompted us to write our EP was we wanted to tell our story in a personal way. This EP shows the highs and lows of our journey along our music journey. We wanted our audience to be able to relate and understand us as musicians.
Who are some of you vocal heroes?
Our vocal heroes we grew up listening to are Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Our mom owned a Celine Dion song and always played it in the car when we were young. We looked up to these artists and wanted to emulate their careers.
What’s the creative process like for you two?
The creative process between us is very special and unique. We always bring something new and different to the table when it comes to writing style and melodies with songwriting.
What is the main message of your music ultimately?
Our message is to show our audience that you are not alone with the emotions and journeys you go on in life. We all have experienced many of the same things in life and it’s good to know you are not alone.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
What you can expect from Aleeda Blu within the near future is lots of new music and more gigs coming to a city near you.
