What’s your story as an artist?

I think everyone has a story but some are not confident to tell it. I personally became an artist because I needed a way of telling my story in a confident way. In my personal life I am very quiet; a listener. As an artist, I am able to be loud and create art that isn’t apologetic. Being an artist has helped grow into ways unimaginable. I am not self conscious because being an artist is about expressing yourself without any trouble knowing that you are a beautiful, powerful, and creative soul.

What inspired this last release? What inspired this last release was, I was just tired of hearing lines like “ if you leave, I’ll kill myself”. I was inspired by the drive that many have to leave a toxic place but feel as if they can’t. I feel like society has made it okay to practice toxic relationships and make us feel as if we don’t have a choice to leave a bad situation. This EP is about breaking free from the shackles that one was tied down to, and finally realizing that there is only one sculptor of their lives, and that is themselves.

Do you get inspired by other art forms?

I always get inspired by paintings, especially those of the renaissance era. I think there is such a tremendous story in each of those paintings and one can interpret many things from these paintings, just like songs. I also get inspired by statues and sculptures which is a main inspiration for this EP. I saw this EP as a sculpture tied with chains, unable to be free because of the sculptor that tied it down, having control over everything.

Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?

I remember when writing this EP my team and I would always laugh about how the project is quite scattered even though it’s supposed to be a straight story line. I would get so upset which would make it even funnier. But, I couldn’t even keep my anger because we all knew it was true. But we finally figured out a way to show the story in a way that is quite exceptional.

What’s your favorite place or environment to write?

I love writing during the night in my bed because when everything is dark, there are no distractions. I have found that when writing at night, even preferably alone, I have written my best works!

What’s a record that shaped your creativity?

A record that shaped my creativity is definitely “Cape God” by Allie X. I found this record during a dark time and it helped me to see that we can turn our low moments into beautiful ones and that is when I decided to construct my debut album, “The Awakening”, which I am so excited to finally release in January, after almost two years.

Who is an artist or band you look up to today?

I look up to many artists like Allie X and Kerli. These artists are extremely unapologetic and quite honestly do not care about anything negative someone has to say. I look up to them because they have power, they have blocked out shame and invited confidence which is something I search for everyday; I find it in their music.

What excites you the most about what you do ?

What excites me the most is finally getting to release and perform my music after working hard endlessly. Sometimes, I am very unmotivated, so it is very exciting to see my art being released and reaching people.

What is your view on genres and music styles

since you mix a lot of them in your music?

I am an artist that loves to experiment because I believe music is very much an art form that doesn’t have labels. I take inspiration from every “genre”, and I think that genres are great because many people get to have a feeling of belonging within certain genres. I feel as if genres are like homes, but at some point we all move out of the home we grew up in and we branch out; I love branching out!

What does music and art mean to you?

I have always had music in my life. Without music it would be very hard to find a different purpose in life. Music and art are my personal home and they are my safe place. I get to be myself in my music and visuals even if it is an over exaggerated version of me.

How would you describe your act in one word?

Experimental
