Massimo Giulliano Cretu, professionally known as giulliano, has been showing people the unbeatable evil we all live with everyday. As giulliano said, “I believe my music can ease the evil inside us by telling a story of living and leaving evil. I want people who believe that they can’t overcome the evil in this world to feel otherwise; as if our evilness is just a figment of our imagination we can control”.
Some of my biggest inspirations are legends like Kerli, Poppy, Allie X, Max Lawrence, Rina Sawayama , Miley Cyrus, and Lewis Blissett. These artists are most definitely the artists I listen to the most. I get the most inspired when listening to the mystery and story telling of artists; these artists in particular.
The Awakening is an album that took me about two years to complete. I wanted to bring out all my struggles into this story. This Album is my awakening and it is my journey to finding the purpose of life.
I can’t say I was confident in my purpose since when making this album, I was in the darkest place ever. The more I wrote the more sad I got, and I believe this can be heard within the album. This album was written and produced by Massimo and Sophia Cretu.
The Awakening was written and produced in Oahu by my team and I. We wanted to make a real story; one out of a book.
We designed it so that each song is a different chapter to the meta-narrative which is the Awakening; my awakening. My team and I did not know this album would have such a big impact on all of us; I think we were all surprised how hurt we were…
I really wanted to give up when making this album but I still had to find my purpose. By the last song we knew we wanted to do something that was perfect so we redid the song over three times. This was all worth it because I had my answer, the purpose to life was to just try.
