Meg10 is one of the most compelling DJs to come out of Berlin. Her political outspokenness and love for Y2K Hip Hop & RnB are key components to her sonic ID. With her genre-bending sound that combines elements of Rap & Electronic Music, as well as her feminist endeavors to foster a more female and queer inclusive club scene, Meg10 has been shaking up Germany for the last 7 years.

As the founder of Germany’s most talked about femme focused club night Hoe_mies, Meg10 has birthed a whole new generation of female and gender minority DJs and pioneered awareness in the Berlin club space and beyond. Pulling together a broad spectrum of genres from Rap, RnB and Dancehall to House, Electro and Techno, Hoe_mies is still overhitting capacity since its inception in 2017 and empowers its community to take up space in male domains.

This year Meg10 launched the Hoe__mies label with the release of its first V/A “Hoe__mies 4 Palestine”. Curated by herself, featuring an international lineup of club music producers, the compilation is a fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders with 100% of profits going towards relief efforts in Gaza. The most purchased track on the project is Meg10’s first edit “Bitter Sw33t B33z” featuring producer Sam Salam, a DnB mashup of The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap”, which is currently the closing track of Australian DJ C.FRIM’s festival DJ sets and has been played by other popular names like DJ Fuckoff, Jyoty, Schackedelic, Arthi and many more. Keep Hush titled it “the best mash up ever”.

“I started Hoe__mies in 2017 with the intent of pushing female, queer and gender minority DJs to the forefront and showcasing their music by way of live performances. May 2025 will be our 8th anniversary and while a lot has changed in terms of visibility for us, the parties are still a staple in Berlin with Hoe__mies being the most known femme/queer focused event series in all of Germany. In the beginning the focus was primarily on Hip Hop and I feel we emerged parallel to the wave of female rappers all over the world celebrating taking up space in a male domain. Our struggle in the beginning was to be taken seriously as promoters and DJs who centered women & gender minorities in a genre that was shunned for being inherently sexist. Awareness and safer spaces were still pretty unheard of in nightlife at the time.

We pioneered this concept within our scene and paved the way for many more female-led party collectives and DJs, we mainstreamed awareness in nightlife (at least in Berlin). With time, our challenges morphed and so did our sound. Today, Hoe__mies is known for being a successful femme-led event series that invites international talent in global club music (not just Hip Hop any more) and regularly brings together a community of 800-1000 people for our events. People trust the concept and know they can meet like-minded individuals without the fear of having their boundaries crossed in any way.

I’m proud to see we’re not the only ones anymore and can go a step further – whether it be collaborations with collectives in other cities or starting our label dedicated to female and gender minority producers. Lots more is to come in 2025, keep your eyes peeled 😉 Next party will be Feb 15 @ OXI (Berlin)”
