With almost 60K streams, “Sex Is Cool” is a pop-punk “middle finger to the unfaithful significant other” track, a dear-john promising to ruin your ex’s life. As a musician and songwriter, GLDI’s goal is to have her fans feeling like they can embrace themselves and see perfection within their “imperfections.” Her December release, “Issues & Tattoos,” is exactly about that. “Sex is Cool is an invitation for a toxic relationship to attend a toxic going away party. I love it because it hits on all the pressure points that usually makes our patriarchal society cringe – the allusion to women who enjoy sex; the admission to enjoying revenge better than sex; the elaboration on that superpower than women can have to turn off double-standards (and cheating exes) like a light switch…these are subjects that excite me.

I’m deeply passionate about pushing boundaries, especially as it relates to the RIDICULOUS ideas our society has around what’s “right” and “wrong” for a woman to feel and do when it comes to her sexuality. To be able to channel all that tension into one place with “Sex is Cool” was a thrilling and gratifying experience.      

I’m a former pushover. I followed the rules too rigidly, I towed the line for too long, I did it to please others, and I suffered for it. Then I threw middle fingers up at EVERYTHING. Giving no fucks is a chapter that should be part of EVERYONE’S story, and I hope that “Sex Is Cool” has a place in that chapter. 

I want to see women fighting back, with the same amount of force that’s punching them in the face every. single. day. I hope you DO cross the line. I hope you DO steal your cheating ex’s girl. I hope you DO empty his bank account, I hope you fuck up his whole agenda. I hope you let yourself do bad things to bad people! I hope you break ALL the rules and I hope it feels good.
