Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where you are now?

I had finished a Bachelor of Music 2 years ago without any plans to go into classical music. I am an avid fan of metal and industrial music, so naturally I learned how to scream and was scouted by a band to sing.

Now because of my terribly controlling personality, I hated not writing the songs, and singing lyrics I did not believe in. So I learned to produce, write and engineer.

After many failed songs, I have finally landed on a sound I liked, EDM mixed with Alternative Pop. More recently I have been focusing on Mid Tempo, and that’s where ‘LA LA LA’ came in.

What is the favorite song you wrote and why?

My most recent single ‘LA LA LA’ simply because miraculously I can still listen to it and not cringe.

Who are your all time musical icons?

Trent Reznor from NIN is the person I can probably relate to the most on the planet. He is both experimental, heavy and yet still singable.

What are some things to do to keep your inspiration alive?

Keep making songs, I don’t believe in inspiration. You just have to keep writing and producing and eventually something will be decent enough to release.

Favorite movie or TV show?

American Beauty and Lord of the rings.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about

I have been trying to nail down midtempo music, with a tonne of failure. Electronic music does not come naturally to me as I didnt listen to it growing up. But it sounds right in terms of what I want to release. ‘LA LA LA’ is the first of many midtempo songs that will come out this year.

Do you have any peculiar pre or post show rituals?

My pre-show ritual is to show up early, otherwise I’ll have an anxiety attack on the way there. Post-show I just want to get home and sleep. I still treat it like a job, I try to be professional about it.

What’s the future looking like for you?

More shows, more releases, hopefully a record deal or have some singles signed. I don’t know. I just hope I can get my shit together so I can stop being the disappointment of my family haha.

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

Everything. I love collecting images of the internet and putting them in a Google Slide like a collage, but with zero waste.

I mostly like darker themes, some people describe me as gothic, but I’m definitely not. I just like wearing black.

I would say anime, TikTok, and Instagram inspire me the most right now. Pretty basic, I know.

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

Getting to tour Australia, getting flown out to play music, was like a dream.

What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist nowadays?

Releasing a lot of music, it’s like the lottery, the more you enter the higher chance you have of winning.

Always learning and developing your skills.

And most importantly, NOT MAKING TERRIBLE MUSIC VIDEOS. If you don’t have 10K to hire professionals, please just make a lyric video.

What would you change in the music and entertainment industry especially after this past year?

I don’t feel like I am qualified to speak in the music industry. The only thing I would change is to stop forcing TikTok stars who clearly have no musical ability to release songs. Authenticity is key. This is an art form, don’t have to bring capitalism into it.
