For Snotty Nose Rez Kids, BBE or Big Braid Energy, is the representation of mind, body and spirit interwoven. Braided hair gives them strength and reminds them of their growth. The track taps into the power of Indigenous people and is an anthem for Indigenous people to be proud of their long braids.

SNRK brought together an incredible team of designers, jewelers, braiders, makeup artists, nail technicians and creatives to pull off the video. Taking a futuristic vibe nestled in that 2000’s futuristic look, the duo set out to showcase the best of the best in Indigenous creatives. A lot of the pieces worn have been created by Indigenous designers. The nail painting scene features an Indigenous nail tech, all the braiding work was done by Indigenous braiders and hair stylists and all the models are Indigenous. The duo really took care in trying to highlight all that Indigenous creatives are doing, and this video can be a piece of showcasing all that they are capable of.

“For us, braids are the representation of mind, body and spirit interwoven. When I braid my hair it gives me strength and reminds me of my growth. There’s real power in Indigenous people growing out their hair and this song taps into that power. “BBE” is an anthem for our people to be proud of their long braids! BIG BRAID ENERGY is what we feel when we think about the journey that brought us to this moment.”

“This braid holds memories and feelings and connects my mind to the earth so I can feel the earth around me. That’s the only energy that matters in this moment.”

“We brought together an incredible team of designers, jewelers, braiders, makeup artists, nail technicians and creatives to pull off this video. Taking a futuristic vibe nestled in that 2000’s futuristic look, we set out to showcase the best of the best in Indigenous creatives.

A lot of the pieces we and the cast are wearing have been created by Indigenous designers, the nail painting scene features an Indigenous nail tech, all the braiding work was done by Indigenous braiders and hair stylists, all our models are Indigenous. We really took care in trying to highlight all that Indigenous creatives are doing and there’s so much more beyond this. We’re happy this video can be a piece of showcasing all that we are capable of, our brilliance.”
