Started in Los Angeles, CA in 2015, The Palms have become a formidable player in today’s Independent musical landscape. With an underground modern day classic in “Push Off,” as well as an ever growing and beloved catalog, they’ve generated 100’s of millions of streams, all while remaining 100% ownership, independence and loyal to their DIY ethos.
“The Palms have shifted toward creating music that is as catchy as pop, yet melded with poignant elements of blues, hip-hop, rock, and reggae. Rothbard’s distinct vocals also invite the listener into each track, allowing the duo’s intended messages to come through while simultaneously leaving space for individual interpretations.”
What’s your story as an artist?
Our art is a reflection of our experiences and observations growing up in LA. We always take into account current events and use our music as a channel to connect with others who may feel the same way.
What do you want your music to communicate?
Our goal is to authentically connect with people on a deeper level, and ideally inspire them the way music has inspired us throughout our lives.
What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?
Everything comes from a combination of our shared and individual experiences, but we find common ground both being born and raised in LA and our interests in the same music. Everything from west coast hip hop that we grew up on, to 60’s music our parents had playing in the house. Short answer, our lives.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about
Our latest release “Fire” is a reflection on the dichotomy of our digital and physical lives, and how we lost sight of the big picture and focus too much on the small screen – how “everybody wants to show off, when they’re feeling alright”
What inspires your sound?
Believe it or not we pull from a lot of hip hop, sampling drums and other sounds, but always mix in acoustic elements and other styles of music we grew up on – reggae, Motown, 60s rock etc.
