Listen to ‘Caught’ HERE

What’s your story as an artist?

I’m a 13 year old singer/songwriter from Toronto. I started out singing a few years ago, started recording covers and posting them on my social media. This past year I’ve worked on my own original songs. This last song called Caught, is the 4th song I released. And I’m really excited about starting out the new year releasing more songs, and also continuing writing and making more music.

What inspired this last release?

This last song was written at a time when I felt extremely frustrated and let down by people close to me at the time, who were constantly accusing me of doing and saying hurtful things to them, while they were doing even worse things to me, but getting away with them. I always got in trouble, while they got away with some horrible things.

What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?

My inspiration is my life. It’s all about my personal experiences with people close to me and my emotional state.

What’s a record that shaped your creativity?

I feel like Madison Beer’s record Life Support is one that really shaped my music style. I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time, I love her sound and how she’s tells her stories and how her emotions are captured in her songs. My personal favourite song in her album is Sour Times.

Who is an artist or band you look up to today?

I love The Weekend, Ariana Grande, Madison Beer, Nessa Barrett.

Any future projects?

Definitely. I have a few songs that I’ve worked on, to be released after the new year, and I will continue writing and recording more to be released.

What does music and art mean to you?

Music is a huge part of my life. I use music to express my emotions, it’s sort of like therapy for me, getting things off my chest.

How would you describe your act in one word?

In one word, I think I’d describe my music as moody.
