Following the release of his successful single “Boys Like Me,” ever-evolving musician NoMBe has finally launched his long-awaited EP “Noah.”
Born in Germany and now residing in Los Angeles, he has made a name for himself in the music industry through his exceptional sound. Known for his genre-defying style, he effortlessly transcends boundaries and pushes the limits of traditional music. His music is characterized by the ability to fluidly adapt to the changing circumstances of his life. Whether it’s responding to personal seasons or reacting to the ebb and flow of his day-to-day journey, NoMBe writes songs with a deep emotional impact.
“Every time I do a project, I get to reinvent what the music is,” he explains and adds, “It could be dance, R&B, alternative, soul, indie, or blues, and that’s how NoMBe started in the beginning. I took the pressure off from having to abide by any perception of what the sound should be. I’m just unapologetically doing whatever I want.”
“Noah” serves as a thematic thread, tracing NoMBe’s thoughts, emotions, and experiences of the time he temporarily moved to Hawaii. From the breezy landscapes to the effusive energy and sunny days, each track on this EP captures the essence of this core idea.
In NoMBe’s own words, “My time in Hawaii was really impactful, I’ll carry it with me for the rest of my life. It was only three years, but it gave me a perspective on what quality of life is and how I do things as opposed to chasing ‘ideas’ of what success and happiness really are.”
Particularly noteworthy is “Space for Two” with its enthralling acoustic guitar mixed with a playful keyboard. “White Lies (feat. Max Frost)” is a powerful indie pop anthem and one the best tracks NoMBe has to offer. And of course, we have the previously mentioned “Boys Like Me,” the focus and featured track. This track has quickly become a personal favorite, very reminiscent of Owl City’s “Fireflies.” Empowered by a rowdy and brave pop soundscape, with “Boys Like Me,” he issues “a fair warning.”
NoMBe jokingly states, “I’m telling a woman, ‘Don’t fall in love with boys like me; I’m going to fuck this up, so save yourself!’”
Besides his time in the recording studio, NoMBe has also been very active on the road. He has proven himself to be more than capable of holding his own alongside renowned artists such as Bonobo and alt-j, performing at major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival, SXSW, Lightning in a Bottle Festival, and many more.
With a discography that continues to grow and evolve, NoMBe continues to push his style and sound to the edge. With the release of “Noah,” he showcases his unwavering devotion to the art of songwriting. He is already working on a new exciting project, so keep an eye out and don’t dare miss what is coming.
