1. How do you value your Iranian heritage now and how do you think it inspires you?

I’m extremely proud of my Iranian heritage now more than ever. It’s the biggest part of who I am, where I come from and how I was brought up.

I feel grateful to have been raised in Iran, and to have been part of such a unique culture.

Every time I look back, it just reminds me of how hard I’ve worked to get to where I am now in my career, and to be able to live in America. It makes me extremely grateful to have the artistic freedom and outlook that I have today.

My Iranian heritage inspires me to show up for all the Persian girls growing up in Iran that don’t have the freedom to imagine a life creating music or being whatever they wanna be. I hope to inspire them, and others that dreams are possible.

2. How was growing up in Iran?

It honestly felt like another life. The life I lived in Iran versus the life I live right now in North America is so vastly different.

I had a super fun childhood surrounded by family and friends in Iran, but as a young girl I never had the option to dream about a life where I could be making music. I’ve always been artistic. I was always drawing, creating, writing, or playing with instruments. Art was always my favourite thing, but it was just never an option.

In Iran, women have to stay covered up and don’t really have a lot of freedom in career choices.

Which plays a big part in why I pursue production and music in such a big way now. Just having the freedom to wake up and make music is truly beautiful.

3. What do you remember the most fondly about growing up in that environment?

The people. The people in Iran are so welcoming and loving. I remember always being surrounded by family or friends. Going on road trips to the North to see my grandparents on their farm. One of my favourite memories is going to the corner store by my parent’s house to get ice cream every day. I ate a lot of ice cream hahaha.

4. Tell us about your latest single

My new single “My Type” just came out on Night Bass Records. It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve made to date. I had the idea for the vocal back in September. I was sitting in a coffee shop, so I went outside and recorded the idea on my phone. I was super excited about it, so I quickly turned it into a little demo.

I was touring heavily at the time, so I would keep going back to the song and working on it on tour. I started testing it out at my shows and tweaking little elements on the instrumental until I got it to a place where I felt 100% with it. It’s easily one of my favourite songs to play out and perform live. It’s such a fun and light hearted record. You will 100% be hearing it in my festival performances this summer!

5. What’s the number 1 advice you would give to an aspiring female artist today?

Stay on your own path. Don’t give into hate, don’t give in to people trying to discredit you on your work.

I worked nonstop for nearly 5 years straight to get my production to where it is today, and I still get hate comments or people trying to discredit me. The best thing you can do is put your head down, do you, and focus on what makes you feel happy. It’s all about the art!

6. How do you spend your days off and what do you do to recharge your creative batteries?

This is a great question hahah. I was touring heavily for the last 8 months, and now have a couple weekends off to get ready for festival season.

I’m kinda bad at taking time off to be honest, but I’m learning to! I’ve started picking up my old hobbies, like basketball, dancing, reading books, and meditating. I’m learning to really make time for the things that fill up my cup, and that I do just for myself. Cause I think it’s so important to take care of yourself and your mental health first. You feeling good is what keeps you creating.

7. What is your goal as an artist ultimately?

To create a universe and show around my music.

I have a lot of artistic ideas and projects that I really wanna bring to life and share with people. And I’m gonna.
