How did your voice-over career help you discover your artistic voice?
My voice-over career, especially during my time in university radio, helped me discover my artistic voice. Working closely with a producer, I often freestyled hooks over beats, which transitioned into a deeper involvement in music production. This experience allowed me to explore and refine my unique sound and storytelling abilities.
Tell us about this single and what it means to you.
‘Alhamdulillah’ is a song of gratitude and faith. It reflects my journey from overcoming personal hardships to being able to provide for others. The song is a celebration of life’s blessings and a testament to the importance of having faith in God and oneself.
What was it like working with ZLATAN?
Working with Zlatan was an incredible experience. His unique style and rhythm were a perfect fit for ‘Alhamdulillah.’ His contribution seamlessly blended with the track, enriching its narrative and adding depth to the overall message. Zlatan’s verse truly elevated the song, making it more impactful.
You draw a lot from your faith and personal life. How does that translate into music for you?
My music is deeply influenced by my faith and personal experiences. I use my songs to express gratitude, resilience, and the lessons learned from my life’s journey. This connection to my faith and personal stories helps me create music that is authentic and resonates with listeners on a deeper level.
What was it like being a radio personality?
Being a radio personality was a formative experience. It allowed me to develop my voice-over skills and work closely with producers, which was instrumental in my transition to music. The experience taught me about the importance of engaging with an audience and honed my ability to communicate effectively through my art.
How have you changed artistically since your debut EP?
Since my debut EP ‘The Voice,’ my music has evolved significantly. I’ve experimented with new sounds, refined my storytelling, and deepened my connection with listeners. This journey has been about growth and embracing diverse musical influences, leading to more authentic and innovative tracks.
What are some other themes you would like to explore with your music in the future?
In the future, I would like to explore themes such as love, social justice, and mental health. These topics are important to me, and I believe they can create powerful connections with listeners. By addressing a wider range of themes, I hope to continue growing as an artist and expanding the impact of my music.
