Rising UK star, VIB, channels his gratitude for life and the wisdom passed down to him from his three angels (his mum, grandmother and auntie) in uplifting hip hop track Save A Life.
Having grown up playing guitar, drums and singing, music has been a lifelong passion for Vib as a channel to pour his creativity into.
Alongside music, Vib, runs his own charity Vib Save Children which he founded aged just 11 with the dream to save and change less privileged children’s lives by helping them access education as well as other resources that ensure better quality of life. Vib is also a 4th year medical student with dreams of running clinics to help more people in need.
Speaking on his new release, Vib shares:
“The main motivation for this track mirrors my motivation for everything I do in this life which for my Mum, auntie and grandma, my three mums.”
He goes on to say:
“There have been a lot of people along the way that wished and prayed for us not to make it, for our downfall or for us not to be what we were destined to be. This track for me is from the deepest part of my heart, which is showcasing the wisdom that I received from them to carry myself through life with peace and spreading that peace and love to others.”
What inspired this track? Was there an event or experience that sparked your inspiration?
I was inspired by my three angels my mum, my auntie and my grandma. They provided me with every aspect of my approach to life, from happiness to sadness, from struggle to triumph and facing both people who wish the best for you in conjunction with people who don’t wish well with a loving compassionate lens. They embodied the words power, passion and resilience and stepped with graciousness throughout their struggles. More than inspiring the song, they are my whole inspiration in life.
Seems like family is a crucial value for you. What is the most memorable lesson learned from a family member?
It’s hard to pick one as the majority of core lessons are from family, but one lesson that stuck with me through hard times- No dream is too big, anything is possible and that the only thing stopping me from achieving my dreams is my mind alone, to overcome that would be to win even in the face of defeat.
What are some other mentors of yours especially on the artistic side?
So many countless figures in different expressions of art.
Nelson Mandela, MLK, Malcom X, Maya Angelou, Ghandi, Mohammed Ali, Bob Marley, Motown soul artists, 2Pac, Bill withers, classical music, Indian classical, arabic music, any poetry I could get my hands on. Most of all my angels, art is a reflection of life and they made me see life in a beautiful way.
What are some other themes you like to explore in your lyrics?
I like to mix rap, spoken word, poetry and singing but would love to explore different languages and even more genres than I have now.
What can we expect from your 2024?
Keep on coming at you with tunes to vibe to, next single Addiction coming out on April 18th so stay tuned for that one!
