Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, producer and musician, GALE (pronounced GAH-leh) releases an explosive and fun, yet brutally honest, self-aware break-up anthem; “Inmadura” (“Immature”), out via Sony Music Latin
This is not the first time you’ve heard GALE, who showcases her knack for co-penning strong world renowned female anthems for artists like Christina Aguilera, Anitta, Shakira, and Cardi B, to name a few, and walked the red carpet as a guest at this year’s Billboard Women In Music, but it is the debut of GALE’s vibrant solo project with her captivating voice and penetrating gaze.
“Inmadura” highlights GALE’s unmistakeable, empowering and rebellious vocals, all while paying homage to her Puerto Rican roots. Written by GALE alongside Dani Blau and Vibarco, and co-produced and DallasK, and Josh Berrios on production, and recorded at Miami’s iconic Criteria Recording Studios, it’s a song that unifies the complexity of real-life moments presented through emotion, with powerful pop melodies and nuances of the urban sounds.
What inspired your debut single release “Inmadura”?
I wanted to write an explosive yet vulnerable pop song about what I was going through at the moment. It’s a happy-sad song, one you can dance to while crying at the same time, a contrast that describes my upcoming music.
What makes this song special?
“Inmadura” opens the door to a roller coaster of feelings. For instance, allowing yourself to be vulnerable after ending a relationship with someone who’s not good for you is a pretty badass move. It also takes a lot of courage; especially when you’re getting out of your comfort zone and what you already know. Recognizing that you deserve better is a huge step forward and it should be applauded.
What is the lyrical content inspired by?
I recently went through a breakup. This song is about knowing that the relationship is over, but understanding that it’s gonna take time to get over this person.
How do you keep yourself inspired?
Music, art, fashion, movies, reading, writing and nature have always been channels of inspiration for me. If I feel stuck while writing a song for example, I go for a walk, watch a film or create a new Pinterest board of cool outfits. Sometimes it takes just a little shift in the routine to get that spark again. And even the most simple little things can help you with that.
What was your first exposure to music?
Wow, I’ve been exposed to music since I was just a little girl. My dad introduced me to music at an early age. I remember being 5 years old and he made me practice and learn all the “boleros” of the old days to perform in front of my family and friends. I started a journal when I was 6, wrote my first song when I was 7 and studied classical singing and music in school until I graduated and went to college. I’ve honestly always felt a strong connection to music. It feels like having a superpower.
What excites you about your life?
I’m definitely excited about finally having the chance to share my music with the world! I hope it resonates with people and I get to perform these songs that are so close to my heart and honest to who I am.
How would you describe your style in one word?
There’s no way I can do it in one word because I have so much fun with fashion depending on my mood, but here we go, I’ll try: edgy-pop-eclectic.
What are your next moves?
I’m excited to share more of my songs and my project with you all! I can’t wait to perform and hopefully connect with people that find a little of themselves in my music.
