A next generation artist, Slum Beach Denny illuminates the depth and versatility of DENM as he creates music that he truly believes in, incorporating sounds and styles that have influenced him throughout his life.
Reggae/rock hybrid “Califas” highlights DENM and Watson’s slick vocals and eclectic styles as they pay homage to those who have grown up around Southern California.
The single has been featured on Spotify’s The New Alt and Apple Music’s New In Alt and New In Rock playlists in addition to a recent spin on SiriusXM’s The Spectrum. Downtempo R&B track “Life’s 2 Short” speaks to living life to its fullest and enjoying the journey along the way while acoustic jam “Fallin” describes the uncertainty of confessing your feelings to someone while wanting to make the transition from friends to lovers.
Elsewhere on the genre-hopping album are ska-infused “Find Your Own Way,” hip-hop leaning “Say A Prayer,” and reggae-tinged “No Break” along with DENM’s reimagined version of the Sublime classic “Badfish.”
In addition to Watson, Slum Beach Denny also features guest appearances from JAG, GDSN, Casey Veggies, Sword Beach, The Patten, and Darnell Williams. Full track listing for Slum Beach Denny below.

Cowabunga.” Reveals DENM
How would you describe the highs and lows of being an artist?
I think it always comes in waves. Like sometimes I only wanna create and get weird in the studio. And sometimes I just wanna sit in silence and paint. But I think the ever flowing and evolving expression of art coming out is what keeps me fresh and inspired and staying in love with all aspects of art making. I’m excited to start building the live show. That’s a beautiful art form. the art of entertainment.
Who are your all-time musical icons?
Marley’s, Chris Cornell, Bradley Nowell, Jim Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz, Kenrick Lamar
Walk us through your creative process
It’s evolving and moving. I keep my body and mind healthy or at least I’m on the road and journey to getting those things healthy. That helps the creativity flow instead of feeling like shit all the time haha. I used to think I knew how I like to write and produce and now I just approach every project now with open hands ready to create.
Doesn’t matter the genre or even medium. Music is just the way I love to express, but I wanna learn to act and dance and man, I just wanna express true ultimate freedom and creative expression. I wanna be a servant to the art. Create beauty that provokes you to feel something. Anything.
What inspires your lyrics?
It’s different. Sometimes they’re very personal and derived from some personal painful story I’m able to tap into. Or sometimes it’s just like an author writing a book about strangers they’ve never met, but you fall in love with along the way. So it’s just whatever I want really haha. No rules just get inspired.
Any other form of art keeps your creativity alive?
Yea I love cinema. I kinda see my life like I’m a director, just trying to get the shot haha. I wish I was better at reading but I’m pretty slow, but that’s a muscle I need to exercise more. I know there’s so much beauty in those books waiting to be revealed to me haha.
Who inspires your style and aesthetics?
I think the west coast and the art that came out of it growing up. The surf and skate and Moto cultures. The street culture. The BBQ’s at the park culture. The entire melting pot of cultures that I was lucky enough to grow up with. All of it. I grew up taking in all the scenery, all the sounds, all the smells. So yeah, just my surroundings and the artists that are pushing the envelope.
What’s the future looking like for you?
Pretty bright I hope. Might need sunglasses.
