London based newcomer Ronniee is poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘FAYE’, lifted from her debut EP ‘So, What Happened?’ due this December.

‘FAYE’ is delves into Ronniee’s personal experience, fusing elements of unfiltered pop, heart-on-sleeve melodies and witty lyricism. She explains: “If an eye roll was a song it’s most definitely ‘Faye’! We all have known or know a ‘Faye’, aka someone who’s a little jealous or attempting to dull your shine. That’s how the song came about – an old ‘friend’ who was a bit shady towards me and I thought you know what I’m gonna make a song out of you! So it’s kind of a salute to those ‘Faye’s’ out there by letting them know we see you.”

Ronniee is a refreshing, bold and empowering female artist who offers an unapologetic point of view in her lyrics, mixed with a sprinkle of raw British charm. Her emotive vocals add depth to her conversational style lyrics and offer a fearless take on topics such as mental health, problematic relationships and social injustices, all of which add to her authentic sound.

What’s your story as an artist?

I started writing music when i was about 14 ,just poems about nonsense really. I met a guitarist on twitter and we started working together on my songs. He encouraged me to push them further. He’d just completed an MA at tileyard music (education) in London and said i should go for it. Its sort of changed my life really, ive met some incredible musicians there and written some absoloute bangers (stay tuned) and have now built the best team around me so im very excited about the future.

What inspired this last release?

I actually woke up one morning and was randomly thinking about an ex boyfriend of mine haha. ‘Faye’ is all about an old friend who was a bit shady towards me during my relationship at the time. Looking back it really wasn’t that deep but gave me inspiration for a cheeky song!

Do you get inspired by other art forms?

I get alot of inspiration through film ,my mind goes into overdrive with so many different situations when i watch films so i jot them all down in my notebook. Also dance, watching people perform through music can be quite emotional so that definetly inspires me to dig a little deeper when i’m writing.

Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?

We wrote ‘Faye’ song over zoom,i wrote it with two good friends of mine they are a couple so they would share the same zoom account and they have the cutest dog who would just pop up during sessions. Im always hungry aswell so id usually be sat eating a huge curry id made and they’d both be very jealous at the other end!

What’s your favorite place or environment to write?

Definitely in the studio with a few collaborators. I really bounce of other people ,get a few people in a room making mad music ,then your’e unstoppable.

What’s a record that shaped your creativity?

Duffy-  ‘Warwick Avenue’ that song is so beautiful, the lyrics ,voice and instrumentation used on that record. The visual of the music video is so simplistic it really opened my eyes to the fact that you don’t have to have 500 backing dancers and fancy cars in a video to make people feel something

Who is an artist or band you look up to today?

Amy Winehouse- Without a doubt, she still continues to inspire me.

What excites you the most about what you do ?

I think the spontaneity of it. You literally never know what your’e gonna write next or where your’e gonna be. Constantly meeting and collaborating with new people and finding new stories to write about every day.

What is your view on genres and music styles since you mix a lot of them in your music?

I really don’t want to have a lid on my ‘Genre’ i get inspired in so many different ways and sounds and i love experimenting. The world would be a very boring place if we were all the same so i think mix it up!

What does music and art mean to you?

Well where would we be without it?  I think it gets people through life having songs to laugh and cry too and to support every moment of your life is just amazing. It makes me feel alive.

How would you describe your act in one word?

Unapologetic
