Acclaimed Americana-pop duo The Grahams have released their new single “Found It In Us.” The ethereal ballad about searching for one’s place in the world finds the duo – comprised of married couple Alyssa and Doug Graham – reflecting on their life as artists chasing the dream, only to find that the dream is them. Alyssa (vocals) and Doug (guitars/vocals) co-wrote the new song with GRAMMY-nominated producer Dex Green and singer-songwriter Kate York. They credit York with helping them write about their lives honestly and vulnerably, diving deep into their childhood love affair that has lasted over 37 years. “Found It In Us” was written and recorded at 3Sirens, the East Nashville studio and record label owned by The Grahams, and features an A-list band of musicians – including drummer Matt Chamberlain (Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan), bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Fiona Apple, Soul Coughing), keyboardist Ray Jacildo (The Black Keys), pianist Rob Berger (Iron & Wine), and synths mastermind Patrick Warren (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann).
“When the idea was pitched to us that we work on some co-writes, we were hesitant. We had written for decades with our mutual childhood friend and writing partner, Bryan McCann. We never even thought of adding other writers to the mix. Who could write songs that meant more to us than us? The first day we started working with Kate, Dex, and Aaron Lee Tasjan, we found out we were wrong. The experience was eye-opening and ultimately exceptionally gratifying. ‘Found It In Us’ was the first song written on the first day in the first hour. It’s a song about appreciation and celebration. Chasing your dreams all over the world is fun and exciting but realizing that the truest and most valuable dream is simple and found within is enlightening.”
