Ellie Knight has been crafting her music with her first song ‘Lovesick’ creating a “dreamy and melancholic” vibe (January 2021) and reaching over 5000 streams on Spotify. “Work for It” was also well received: a feisty, empowering song with an eclectic, colourful music video.

“Better Things” released in October, a feel-good break up song was featured in several blogs including Mundane Mag, Le Future Wave and The Girls Gig. In 2021, Ellie had 4.3k listeners on Spotify.

“I wrote Unapologetic when I was 17, and still figuring out my sense of self. One day the word ‘unapologetic’ popped into my head and I thought to myself wow this is a powerful word, I could write something using this! I ended up with this empowering song about owning who you are and not being weighed down by other people’s judgements of you or allowing opinions to influence your sense of self-worth. It helped me realise my value is disconnected from what other people think about me. Musically I was experimental with this one, going for a dancey anthemic vibe by using synthy bass sounds and creating crowd backing vocals with my (slightly apprehensive!) mates.“

“The track is all about owning who you are and not letting anyone’s opinions of you get in the way of you being truly yourself or getting you down. I wrote it at 17 when I was still figuring out my sense of self, recorded it in the studio with my guitar at 18 and then resampled the guitar, added some synths and crowd vocals with my housemates at 20, to create the dancy empowering anthem I had imagined at 17.

In effect it’s saying I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and maybe I’m not yours, but that’s ok, my value is not based upon what other people think of me.

It’s the kind of song I envisage people screaming and shouting the words out to at my gigs, on a similar vibe to P!NK, so everyone had better get learning the words!!!”
