Tessa Dixson, a fresh voice for her generation, is ready to unveil her upcoming EP to the world, I Thought I Was Dreaming But It Was Just a Glitch. This eagerly awaited collection of songs dives deep into the fine line between our digital lives and real emotions, offering an immersive experience that resonates with fans living in a world where technology and human connection are inextricably linked.

The lead single, “Just My Type,” is already making waves as a powerful digital pop anthem of self-reclamation. Far from just another love song, “Just My Type” explores the concepts of self-love, setting boundaries, and breaking free from the confining expectations of traditional relationships. The track is a bold declaration of independence, striking a chord with those who have chosen to prioritize their well-being while still embracing the possibility of meaningful connections

What’s the relationship between your emotions and the digital world?
I have such a love/hate relationship with the digital realm. On one hand I think it’s beautiful that we have access to never ending knowledge and are able to connect with people all around the world and on the other I find it terrifying that we get to know so much about everything and anything and it can feel so isolating sometimes. I truly feel this is a universal feeling.
Tell us about Just My Type and what the message is there
Just my type was the first song that kicked off the creation of this ep and it really set the tone for the rest of the project. I had just put and end to a 5year relationship and was in full discovery of a new life and a new me really. Trying to rediscover myself and focusing on my own well being and growth while simultaneously discovering frivolous relationships and using them to grow and to further understand my needs and wants.
How do you focus on yourself and take care of your own wellness these days?
It’s so much easier to do the ostrich and aimlessly scroll on Tik Tok when you’re feeling anxious but I’ve noticed how numb it makes me feel and further emphasises the feeling. It’s a very human thing to do but when I do have the strength to take care of my own well being I try and exercise, read books, learn something new, play wordle and see my friends to feel real human connection.
What kind of feedback are you getting from people so far? Is this resonating with others yet?
The feedback is really good, a lot of people have been noticing how this project really feels like me.
I think it is resonating, the topics are so universal, the tracks very danceable and the overall artistic direction very clear so I’m very happy.
Who inspires your sound?
The popstars of today like Charli xcx, Caroline Polacheck or Fka Twigs as well as the popstars that made my childhood like Britney, Rihanna or The Destiny’s Child but also the immense variety of underground artists that are reshaping how I view music like Malibu, Nala Sinephro or Two Shell. There’s so much inspiration all around, in movies, nature, books. The world has so much to offer, it’s quite beautiful.
What about lyrics?
The lyrics of the EP are very personal yet I feel a lot of people can identify to them. My favorite lign is in Heaven “ No one to turn to, the streets have turned blue, just puppets used to mourn”
What can we expect after this EP?
New and exciting things are coming faster than you think. I want more, more, more and more!
