What happens when the poison inside you is the only thing that can save you? Adriel Favela tries to answer that complicated query via the release of his newest album, “COBRA.” In it, Adriel tells the story of a man who has spent years running from himself, from his past, from the weight of living between cultures, and from the noise of inherited fears. But now, he’s done with that.

“‘COBRA’ is the rebirth of a man who decided to stop running from himself,” he explains. “It’s the story of a spirit that, after touching its deepest darkness, chose to awaken.”

The title draws from the symbolism of his hometown, Bacobampo, meaning “snake in the water.” From there, COBRA builds its central idea around transformation. As Favela puts it, the cobra does not die from its own venom but transforms it, reflecting the album’s themes of truth, healing, and survival.

Across the record, Favela confronts anxiety, depression, trauma, and violence, transforming those experiences into a story of survival and healing. Throughout COBRA, venom becomes a metaphor not for destruction, but for resilience and personal transformation.
“COBRA” is an extremely rich and complex album that takes Favela’s already genre-defying sound and stretches it even further across sound borders. Here, Norteño, corrido, pop, mariachi, and hip-hop find common ground in poignant narratives about personal struggle, where many of the singer’s sins are exposed boldly and addressed with acid wit.

“Lucid Dreams” leads the album as its focus track, capturing the duality at the center of Adriel Favela’s COBRA journey. The song explores the tension between pain and healing and darkness and rebirth, reflecting the personal transformation that runs throughout the record.

Adriel Favela shows no interest in traditional narratives of romance or regional music tropes. He is interested in identity, destiny, solitude, and the messy work of becoming someone new in spite of the wounds and scars.
