Heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies are the main ingredients for Col Gerrard’s success and his latest single ‘Sun & Sky’ is a testament to it. While his music is a clear tribute to genre staples such as Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and Marvin Gaye Col also worked alongside esteemed GRAMMY-nominated producer and Brit Award winner, Chris Potter (The Rolling Stones, The Verve, U2, Keane, and Blur).
Taking inspiration from his grandfather’s three key pieces of wisdom: never grow old, listen twice as much as you talk, and don’t wait for things to happen, Col has never backed down and kept at it like his grandfather would have.
“Whatever it is you want in life, you have to go and get it for yourself” says Gerrard. “The great weakness of us as human beings is making excuses for things rather than taking responsibility for ourselves. There have definitely been times throughout my life where I have been guilty of doing exactly that. And none more so than with my music”. Col confesses
The heartfelt and honest single ‘Sun & Sky’ is a testament to Gerrard’s commitment to creating music that resonates deeply with listeners. “I’ve always been a huge fan of David Bowie and his ability to reach people with his music,” Gerrard explains. “He has always had a way of making people feel special in a way like no one else can do. His lyrics haven’t always had a message, but they have always had a meaning and a feeling.”
