There’s nothing truly memorable and everlasting without a healthy dose of theatricality to it, and it seems that Los Angeles-based Holly Anne Mitchell understands that more than most, as she unveils her whimsically macabre persona “Holly Hollows” in her brand new theatrical indie pop-rock self-titled project “Holly Hollows.”

With an affinity for the juxtaposition of the colorful and the eerie aspects of creativity, Holly Hollows is a flexible vehicle for the singer to express herself free of constraints in order to process trauma and challenge social expectations and norms, acting as “a good girl’s guide to rebellion” both setting limits and breaking boundaries in one perplexing motion.

Holly Hollows is a multifaceted individual with an impressive array of talents. She is not only an artist but also a two-time TEDx speaker and singer-songwriter. Adding to her list of accomplishments, she is a novelist, poet, playwright, as well as a ghostwriter. However, it’s not just her creative abilities that make Holly stand out – she is also a strong advocate for mental health. Her no-holds-barred journey of overcoming PTSD is a candid portrayal of how creativity can be harnessed for resilience and transformation.

Back In January 2023, Holly made waves with her debut musical “BLOOD SUPPLY: A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE LOVE STORY” in Los Angeles, receiving stellar reviews for her work as a writer, producer, and lead performer. Building on this success, her next project “Holly Hollows” is set to take audiences on a theatrical indie pop rock journey to the afterlife for artists in Hollywood, scheduled for production in Spring 2024.

Promising a continuation of Mitchell’s innovative and captivating storytelling through music. “Holly Hollows” is a brand new album that accompanies the upcoming theatrical release.

“When an aspiring pop star dies, she awakens in the underworld where all her unfinished songs and living fantasies are waiting for her in death. Sex, love, and fame become nightmares where all hell breaks loose under the watchful gaze of a demonic producer. Creators beware—your desires may be your undoing.” – Holly about the album

The album itself is a  7-song journey across colorful and unexpected avenues of sound that explore pop, rock, and even electronic musical elements in pursuit of a complex and enriching listening experience that simply cannot and does not get dull or repetitive. Holly’s vocals and lyrics openly evoke influences ranging from St. Vincent, Karen O, and Lana del Rey, making for an album that alternates between ethereal moods, sultry undertones, and the outright audacious and badass. Overall, if you were looking for a truly flavorful pop experience, look no further than this album, I think you’ll be really hard-pressed to find anything as rich as this at this very moment.
