Born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia and based in Montreal, Canada-MIVA breathes sound, visual arts and fashion. Self-produced, written and visualized , her music is where elaborate production, sophisticated facts – poetry and flows collide.
“For the first time in my career, I wanted to be super open to the possibilities of what a project can become. I wanted it to be fun but up close and personal as always. I spent a good portion of summer just showing up to my piano lessons and freestyling. By the end of the sessions, I wrote tons and had some cool samples of some illicit hip-hop tapes from the 80s and 90s.

While doing so, I kind of submerged myself into Russian Rap, Folk- and Music in general, so the way I grew up and what inspired me from home played a huge role in this EP. For some reason, people are still shocked when I tell them that Russia has been having great creators of dance music such as breaks, drum & bass, techno,etc. Music that was humongous in the 80s and 90s, and still is by this day.”
