What’s the story behind the title American Dream
Coming from a family that originally migrated here from other countries in search of the American dream and the freedoms that came along with it… I think that so many people take it for granted and with all the constant chaos and turmoil in our country pinning people against each other and some have forgotten the true values of what make this country great. I just wanted to make a song that reminded people that this is the place where you can be yourself and where you’re able to make all your dreams come true. A message to be yourself, not judge others and live in harmony.
Why do you think country is attracting so many more people now?
I think people are gravitating towards country music more than ever because of the authenticity and the truth of the stories. Also, the wholesome energy that comes from songs about love, family community, and God.
Who are some of your main influences from the golden age of country?
When I was growing up I had Shania Twain and Martina McBride on repeat! My parents used to take me to do karaoke and I would belt “Broken Wing” and “You’re Still the One” so they have definitely been huge inspirations in my music career.
Who are some of your influences from the new generation?
I’ve been so heavily influenced by Struggle Jennings. He has inspired me to be my most authentic self and make music that is true and meaningful
How was touring with Jelly Roll and Struggle Jennings?
Touring with Jelly Roll and Struggle Jennings was the most amazing experience! To be around so much talent and such kind souls doing what we love to do is a dream! Definitely a core memory
What topics do you like to explore as a songwriter?
I like to really write about feelings and moments. One of my songs “Ready for the Rest” is such a prime example of that. I wrote that one about when I found out I was pregnant and the lyrics itself tell the story so well.
How do you approach a new song?
I approach new songs like a new piece of art excited to create the vision and complete the project. It’s so cool to be able to start from scratch and just watch your artwork come together piece by piece.
What are some of your next projects?
I am in the process of working on my first country album with songs that are true to myself and showcasing my vocal abilities. I’m blessed that I am able to create this project and team up with the best writers in Nashville along with Ned Cameron who is producing this album and Struggle Jennings who is not only my mentor and the person who gave me a shot at this career, opened door after door for me, who believed in my music so much and signed me to his independent label Angels and Outlaws, but also the executive producer on this album. I can’t wait for everyone to get to hear it!
