Alex Osman is a writer, musician, and photographer from Austin, TX. He’s the mind behind the death-industrial/power electronics project, A Need to Be Shot. His first book, PROBLEM CHILD, caught the attention of legendary filth elder John Waters, who has since called Alex a “crazily enjoyable first-rate new talent.”
His follow-up act, SCANDALS (released August 1 on Filthy Loot), is borne of a festering unique to the American underbelly. These are the hardwon murmurings of the mad sage, silent witness to Make-A-Wish and meth lab explosions, Jerry Springer and Jim Jones. In Osman’s first full-length collection of poetry, he exhumes the collective consciousness of an empire in decay; our great, heaving manufacturer of dreams and tragedies. (John Waters’ favorites from the collection include “Gold Tooth In A Knuckle Sandwich,” “Volante,” and “Scent of Easter.”)
