How did you get to where you are now?

It started pre-pandemic when I would just do an insane amount of shows in as many locations as possible. That combined with always submitting my music to playlists and putting a hell of effort into music videos helped me build my following.

What is the favorite song you wrote and why?

This used to be a really difficult question for me to answer, but as I get older and more critical of myself I find it hard to pick a song I don’t go ~~eww~~ or wish I did things differently with. I’d say Snow and Discomposure are the two of mine I’m most happy with. (That’s just for me though if you like my past work please keep liking it.)

Who are your all time musical icons?

I’d say Paramore, Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, Zella Day, Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, and Amy Winehouse.

Favorite record you can’t stop spinning today?

After all this time I’m still stuck on Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier.

Favorite movie or TV show?

Arrested Development never gets old and I will talk about that show in circles until someone is begging for mercy. My favorite movie is The Sound of Music.

What’s the story behind your latest track ‘Snow’?

I wrote all the lyrics to Snow in like 15 minutes at a Ray Lamontagne concert because my phone was dying and I felt inspired out of nowhere which is why the song is kind of an unrepeated stream of consciousness. Then when I pulled them up a week later I had to somehow work them into a melody which took forever and was actually agonizing.

Do you have any peculiar pre or post show rituals?

My pre show ritual is embarrassing so I can’t tell you. But my post show ritual is usually getting Waffle House with whoever I met that night.

What’s the future looking like for you?

I really want to move to LA or back to New York once my lease is up in Nashville! Until then I’m working on new singles and music videos.

How much thought do you put in your style and looks as an artist?

Hmm…. that’s a good question. I’d say my style is just sort of all over the place. Sometimes it’s more on the boho maxi dress side and sometimes it’s all black and jeans. I guess nothing really inspires it, I just thrift shop a lot.

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

Wow I’ve never gotten this question before and I love it. I think when I almost killed myself on accident at SXSW. I sometimes throw myself on the ground at shows and at the end of a song I forgot the floor was concrete and when I dropped back my head smacked against the floor so loud people froze and got really concerned. I had never felt like, actually delirious before until that moment. I finished the set though. I just think if an artist died by doing something crazy during a show, yeah it’d be so tragic, but they’d be the coolest performer to ever exist. So since I’m going to die one day anyway I hope it’s because I had to be hospitalized after a set.

What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist nowadays?

Nepotism

What would you change in the music and entertainment industry especially after this past year?

Nepotism

All jokes aside, never give up and make your art for you and no one else. “Build it, and they will come” as my mom always says. You have to believe in yourself before other people can! The beauty of the internet is most promotion is free.
