After years of exploring the blurred edges of club music, memory, atmosphere, and collaboration, Jacques Greene is bringing things back into sharper focus.
The Montreal-born producer has announced his new album, jg, arriving October 16 via LUCKYME®. The 11-track record is being positioned as Greene’s first full-length project made unapologetically for the dancefloor, trading some of the abstraction and haze of recent work for something more immediate, physical, and emotionally open.
Alongside the announcement, Greene has shared new single “Presence,” the latest glimpse into a record shaped by movement, instinct, and a renewed desire for connection.
The album follows previous singles “What They Say” with umru and “Closer” with DJ BORING, while the full tracklist brings together a wider circle of collaborators including Ouri, Jonah Yano, SAM-E, SEES0000, CFCF, crushed, and Sølv.
For Greene, jg emerged during a period marked by personal upheaval and a wider sense of instability. Instead of retreating further inward, he found himself returning to the spaces and relationships that had historically made music feel meaningful.
“This record moves away from concepts and follows an intuition for places where I wanted to be and where I would be wanted,” Greene says.
That instinct makes jg feel like a deliberate return to the social core of dance music.
Greene has always been interested in the emotional potential of club records. Since breaking through with “Another Girl,” his music has consistently placed intimacy inside dancefloor architecture, pairing euphoric production with an unmistakable sense of longing. Albums like Feel Infinite and Dawn Chorus expanded that language, while his 2025 collaborative project Verses GT with Nosaj Thing moved toward a hazier, more fragmented interpretation of club music.
With jg, the fog appears to be lifting.
Rather than treating the club as a distant memory or conceptual environment, Greene places himself directly inside it. The record’s collaborations reflect that shift as well, emerging less from strategic pairing than from friendships and encounters within his creative world. As Greene puts it when discussing “Everyone,” his collaboration with SEES0000, the song exists not only because he loves the music, but because of the life around it: walking from the studio for Sonoran tacos and talking about everything else.
That sense of lived connection feels central to jg. The album may be built for clubs, but it is equally concerned with the people who make those spaces matter.
Lead single “Presence” makes a fitting introduction. Rather than overcomplicating the premise, the track points toward exactly what its title suggests: being somewhere fully, physically and emotionally, with other people.
Across more than fifteen years, Jacques Greene has repeatedly challenged the assumption that dance music must choose between emotional vulnerability and functional club energy. His work has included collaborations with Bonobo, remixes for Radiohead, production for artists including Jessy Lanza and Tinashe, and tours alongside The xx, all while maintaining a distinctly personal interpretation of electronic music.
jg appears to push that philosophy into its most direct form yet: less distance, less conceptual framing, more feeling.
The album arrives October 16 via LUCKYME®, with Greene set to spend the coming weeks moving through clubs and festivals across Asia and Australia.
