Latin superstars Mau y Ricky have released their new single “Mal Acostumbrao.” The Venezuelan brothers take over dating spots like a skate park and basketball courts with young Latin revelation Maria Becerra. In the music video, the three singers capture the feelings of starting to fall in love with someone.

Mal Acostumbrao” is Mau y Ricky’s first new single since the start of their new era with “3 de La Mañana in June. They previously collaborated with Sebastián Yatra and Mora. Now they teamed up with Maria Becerra, who is the most-streamed artist in Argentina. Always innovating, Mau y Ricky blended Latin urban music with influences of ‘80s pop music. Their sweet love song has a street edge to it that’s embodied in the feel good music video. Mau y Ricky and Maria Becerra visit popular dating spots in Miami like a skate park, basketball courts, and a golf course to have a good time. Powerful visual effects like butterflies flying in reverse and bubbles floating around the artists are symbolic of the feelings behind falling in love. Mau y Ricky worked with their trusted production company WEOWNTHECITY and directors Richard Mountainous and Santiago Lafee.

“We wanted to work with Maria for a long time and it was very funny because on the day of our session, she was supposed to arrive the day before, but her flight was delayed and we were not going to be able to do it. Then our flight out of Argentina was delayed, so our schedules had some overlap. She arrived around 2 in the afternoon and had to leave around 6, so we had like four hours to write the whole song and record it. We have been closely following the music movement happening in Argentina, and to be able to do the song with the Big One, to see how he works, was incredible. The truth is we had the best time. We’re sure that this is the first of many things that we’ll do together. Maria had the best attitude shooting the music video with us. There were long recording days and she was up for everything that we wanted to do. We really hope that people like this song that talks about starting to fall in love with a person that drives you crazy.” expressed Mau y Ricky.

Tell us about how you got where you are as an act

Well everything started very naturally for us! We have always been into music since we can remember! At 15 or so we recorded our first record almost just for fun and then one thing led to another, we kept writing songs after song until we got where we are now really

What’s your favorite song of yours and why?

We are very proud of PAPÁS, we think it’s a really great pop song. Perdoname is also one of our favorites but all of our songs have a special place in our heart!

What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist?

I don’t think there’s an actual formula. Just like there’s no formula for making a hit. When you think you got it, it changes! Your audience will tell you when you made it and it usually happens when you understand your identity as an artist! Once you understand who you really are you need to turn it into art and be extremely honest and genuine because people will know if you’re being fake!

Favorite Movie or TV Show?

Titanic and Dexter for sure

How did your collaboration with Maria Becerra come about?

We share the same publicist so we thought it would be amazing to write a song together if possible since we are huge fans of hers. So one day as she was scheduled to land in Argentina and we were supposed to leave for a show we managed to set aside a few hours to meet and record together!

What inspires your looks?

Anything rock and 80s related! Lenny Kravitz is definitely an inspiration!

What is something you are proud of in your career today?

Difficult questions but we think that being able to witness and experience this amazing blessing as you live it is priceless! A lot of times you only realize how much of a blessing a moment was when it’s gone but when you can actually feel it right on the spot it’s just indescribable! We really have that sense of happiness and fulfillment we have been working really hard to achieve!

What do you do before going on stage?

We always warm our bodies, warm our voices and pray! It’s our way to get physically and spiritually ready for the show!

What’s the future looking like for you?

So good! A lot of new music and shows which is what excites us the most! Our fans know that we are truly ourselves when we are on stage so we can’t wait to get back to what we do best!
