American singer songwriter Swt Valli Hi shares her new smooth R&B track ‘Let’s Ride’, out 30 June on all streaming platforms.

A collaboration with Matthew “Matty J” Jacobson and CJ Eiriksson, ‘Let’s Ride’ is a track that you can listen to on repeat, and find something new every time. From Swt Valli Hi’s sleek and sultry vocals, to the rich instrumentals, the track is the perfect summer anthem.

Speaking of the track, Swt Valli Hi says, “I wrote this track about the ups and downs of city life while knowing who your loyal ones are. I don’t believe in begging for people’s attention or proving my worth, and I’m not into those disposable use and abuse friendships. I am real, and I want those around me to be real too.”

Tell us about the genesis of your project Lets Ride. How did you get to where you are now?

SWT VALLI HI:

As I heard the base riff being played I free-styled by humming then singing lyrics out and filled out a few missing words with my contributors. This song has been in the pipeline for a while now but it kept being delayed due to the pandemic. Naturally we formed a group of songs with a really diverse range of styles, put it in a melting pot of what was in us and saw what happened. To be where we are now, I think a lot of it is down to chance and just the natural ebbs and flows of life, experience and this industry. We’re so excited for the future and thank you for taking a listen to our newest track.

What should a song or piece of art communicate in your opinion?

SWT VALLI HI:

Anything you would like it to comunicate – that’s the beauty of art. It can be infinitely defined and totally unlimited.

Who were your top 3 artists last year?

SWT VALLI HI:

I was moved by the Donda album, That Doja Cat Planet Her album slapped, and lastly that Olivia Roderigo did her thing giving them Avril vibes.

What do you do when you’re feeling uninspired?

SWT VALLI HI:

Meditating and praying, I also love to walk my dog which always re-inspires me.

What are your 2022 projects and goals?

SWT VALLI HI:

To finish off these final releases, and get to work on some of the live elements of this project and to start planning 2023!

Favorite movie or TV show?

SWT VALLI HI:

Stranger Things obviously! And how amazing is Kate Bush?!

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about?

SWT VALLI HI:

It came about from just all of us sharing our experiences and how much such little, simple pieces of gratitude and happiness impact one’s life and this crazy journey that we are all on.

What is something you would want to change in the music and entertainment industry?

SWT VALLI HI:

For the appreciation and respect of overall art in music to come back. Everything is focused on hackable data that things feel cheesy gimmicky and diluted. I’ve seen many disregard true top-tier musicianship and talent for the sake of blowing up in the social media space. I would really like for some of these incredible instrumentalists that contribute so much of what we listen too get more of the limelight for the incredible work and creativity that they provide.

Can you outline your creative process?

SWT VALLI HI:

It’s really very flexible and organic with so much of our content really coming about from inspiration and improvisation.

Once we’re on the right path, the process is fairly quick after that and then later through collective decision, if we like it enough you’ll get to hear it!

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

SWT VALLI HI:

I do. I’m just me but I handle the creative direction and art direction of this band concept.

SWT VALLI HI:

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

SWT VALLI HI:

I try not to focus too much on achievements or highlights as an artist but rather improving, adjusting and expanding on my process and development. In regards to my overall creativity it was lovely to have the first video I produced and directed to be premiered in Wonderland.

What do you think an artist should sing about nowadays?

SWT VALLI HI:

Absolutely anything they want – but hopefully something that means something to them

Do you have any regrets?

SWT VALLI HI:

Of course, but wouldn’t life be boring without them?!

What is some piece of advice you would give to yourself right now?

SWT VALLI HI:

To keep building on my process, my journey and my education.
