Emerging pop artist Muunie (whose name is pronounced like -mony in the word “harmony”) has released her debut EP Ele.mental. Each track on the EP represents one of the elements – including previously released singles Fire, Water, Earth, and now the fourth chapter, Air – and the EP as a whole paints an emotionally captivating narrative arc through the music and the accompanying videos for each track, telling the story of how Muunie lost her way before learning to believe in herself again.
“Ele.mental is a complete thought. It is my wholehearted attempt to honor the elements of nature as a metaphor for human emotion. I put tremendous care and effort into creating four distinct visual and musical environments that weave into a cohesive body of work. It’s my very first music project and I had no idea what I was doing a lot of the time. I created it independently with a small, but scrappy and incredibly talented team. I wore a lot of hats, including writing the songs, producing the demos for Earth and Water, mixing Air and directing and editing all of the videos. Just about every day, I was so overwhelmed I wanted to give up. But I had a deep desire to do this idea justice, so I kept putting one foot in front of the other.
It was impossible to ignore the serendipity and alignment at every turn. Ele.mental emerged from a chance encounter that set me down a path I can only describe as destiny. The themes in each song intertwined so closely with what was happening in my life, it was uncanny. I evolved alongside the music, as an artist and a person. I learned how to stand up for myself, how to honor my vision, and how to let go of personal and professional relationships that didn’t serve me. Exposing so much of myself to put this art into the world triggered a soul-shaking exorcism of my deeply internalized shame about wanting to sing and perform. I discovered the path to my own worthiness and internal liberation through the creation and release of Ele.mental. I hope it connects with others and offers them a soundtrack to their own personal transformation.”
