What inspired this last release?

Essentially it’s a winter love song but it has a broader inspiration too. Last Holiday season was really difficult and I (like many others) didn’t get to spend it with all the people I love. That was what gave me the title line ‘No Time To Be Alone’, that longing for togetherness. Hopefully this year will be different!

What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?

Honestly I just write biographically, I feel like I get the best lyrics when I’m pulling from my own experience. You’ll always tell your own story better than someone else’s.

Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?

Well… I actually wrote it when I was isolating with covid so all the first demos I sound sooo ill.

What’s your favorite place or environment to write?

I really enjoy writing in the garden, chilling outside on a nice evening. Gets me very relaxed and I never feel any expectation to write something, I just enjoy jamming with myself and something usually pops out.

What’s a record that shaped your creativity?

Beautiful Freak by Eels. Such a personal and emotive album. Also the production was really bold and ahead of its time, still sounds fresh today.

Who is an artist or band you look up to today?

Benny Sings. I’ve watched a lot of his interviews recently and I love his approach to writing and living life as a musician.

Any future projects?

I’m working on some video projects for my new album when I get back from Mexico!

What is your view on genres and music styles since you mix a lot of them in your music?

I get excited by a lot of different genres so I just lean into whatever is exciting me most. It’s a good way to carve out your own sound too, blending your tastes together.

What does music and art mean to you?

It helps me make sense of life. Good art/music/film often finds me at the right time and changes how I’m feeling. It’s so useful, especially if you’re not feeling great.

How would you describe your act in one word?

Sensational
