Producer and songwriter Matt Lamb explores the electronic side of soulful R&B with his debut single ‘Rain’, out now via his own imprint Off Cuts.
Matt first began releasing music under the name Breen, where he gained recognition from the likes of Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1, as well as The Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk and The 405. Since taking a step back from the industry in 2015, Matt decided to release under a new name and make a fresh start free from stylistic expectations.
Collaboration is at the heart of Matt’s ethos, and he has spent the past year building a collective of producers, musicians, songwriters, and photographers. Out of this came his label Off Cuts, which he formed with producers Meslo and Wilbuforce, as a space to experiment with ‘off cuts’ and samples from organic instrumentation.
“I wrote ‘Rain’ during the first UK lockdown last year. It’s a bittersweet look on feeling good and comfortable, knowing that everything could come crashing down any minute. This is just the start, we’re gonna be dropping bangers all year!”
